I like being prepared. Nations build armies because they need to. Towns have police and fire because they live in the real world, not in one filled with puppies and lollipops. They don't sit around without any tools to take care of everyday situations because they believe others will laugh at them. I don't care how you feel about me, nor do I mind if you decide not to own firearms or carry them. I keep a fire extinguisher in my kitchen, a spare tire on my truck, a smoke alarm near the wood stove, and a firearm on my hip or in my bedroom. All of them are common sense preperations for things that happen everyday to someone somewhere. I don’t live in fear at all. I like being prepared. Nations build armies because they need to. I don't live paranoid, but I do have a 12ga by the bed, and usually take a handgun if I leave the house. I look in the newspaper every day and see people being robbed, having their homes invaded, carjackings, and shootings in schools and the mall. Lots of it happens here in NH. It's not unreasonable to carry a firearm or keep one in the home. I'm not calling in a JDAM or a tomahawk missile, just being prepared. I keep a few gallons of water in the house and a little extra non-perishable food, also reasonable things to do.
