Change? Where? I'm still waiting for the change.

As for that .. absurd Ronnie clip .. I find it highly amusing when conservatives talk subjectively about "what it means to be american" and "patriotism" .. these nebulous topics that really have no concrete meaning and can be used to justify just about anything. "Being a real american means charity and goodwill, therefore ". It's asinine, it's pointless, and it's undefeatable as a debate tactic. Anytime you get into stupid semantic discussions about what a "real american" is, or a "real christian" a "real democrat" a "real conservative" or whatever .. you've already won, because you've sidetracked the other person away from the real point that you SHOULD be discussing. Weaksauce.

What amazes me is how hard you hit the nail on the head in one line, but failed to grasp the irony.

"..shows me that the people writing this legislation don’t know either."

.. I couldn't agree more, the people that (based on our past discussions) you've supported for public office, and the types of candidates I suspect you'd support in the future -DONT- know either. In fact, they often deliberately enact policies that they -know- are against the common interest simply to push an ideological stance ("starve the beast" tactics come to mind). It just boggles my mind when people cry foul at "abuses" by the system, then support the very people/groups who set up those abuses, support those abuses' continued stupidity, and seek to establish MORE abuses and handicaps. It's nuts.
