Death of Ted Kennedy
by CmdrFenix on Aug.26, 2009, under Political Discussion
Let me start by saying, my sympathies go out to Kennedy family. While I disagree with his policies, I cannot ignore the fact he was a father, brother, and a US Senator.
Ted Kennedy believed in universal health care. It was something he fought for. The same universal health care that is putting a serious strain on the Commonwealth right now, has been debated across the country.
Back in 2004, when Senator Kerry looked like he might make it to the White House, Senator Kennedy and many other pushed along legislation that stripped then Republican Governor Romney from naming a successor in the even Kerry’s seat was vacated. His measure was seen as a means of maintaining Democratic control over the senate and preventing a Republican from taking that seat. Just before his death, Senator Kennedy sent a letter to the MA legislature and urged them to change the law, but this time, back to allowing the current Democratic Governor to again to name a successor!

Ubelievable

OK, so I’m still writing the blarb on media bias (mostly getting all of my research together), but this video just takes the cake and I had to post about it.
They edited out his face and anything that would establish the fact that he was black! Like a blog I enjoy reading has named posts, “Give us this day, our daily race baiting assholes”. This reporter comes right out and says it even though I have seen Sarah Palin and other members of congress portrayed in the same light.
Racist my ass. Just because I don’t agree with you, don’t make me racist.
Their hypocrisy truly knows no bounds.

One of the principle reasons I do not feel anymore power should be granted to our federal gov’t, is the complete hypocritical nature of the current members of congress. Yes, I know this is a chronic problem today with politics, but the problem cannot be solved by ignoring it, saying we have more important things to do right now, or simply brushing it off. If I understand correctly, corporate execs who purchase private jets to fly around for meetings are bad, but members of Congress (who spend most of their time in Washington) buying private jets with our money is OK? I want to see Congress fly a commercial airline and go through the same process we ALL have to. Last flight I took, I sat on the tarmac for 2 hrs waiting to take off in a rather small jet. I would love to see how Miss Pelosi, Mr. Reid, or the any other member of congress would handle that situation. I am sick of hearing about a politico elite that feels it is above it’s own people who put them there.
This will be a rather short post today, have a lot going with the summer and all. I hope everyone is having a safe and great summer!
Racism and the true meaning of "Race"
by CmdrFenix on Aug.01, 2009, under Political Discussion
I am sitting here absolutely amazed at how the media is frenzied over the “beer summit” with President Obama, Henry Louis Gates Jr., and Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge, Mass., Police Department. They are making it sound like a middle east peace summit going on at the White House. I am absolutely tired of hearing about racial profiling being claimed in a crime, and the media immediately jumping on the bandwagon of “racism” in cases where that isn’t even a factor. I am tired of being told we have an epidemic of racial profiling cases in this country, when so many cases of it are thrown out in a grand jury or after investigation.
