Gov't Healthcare Coming
by CmdrFenix on Jun.23, 2009, under Political Discussion
There has been a lot of talk about a gov’t run health care program coming to all Americans. There are many reasons why I never want to see this come to pass. Some of those reasons are:
- It’s not within the gov’t mandate to provide for the common defense of the common cold.
- I have zero confidence in their ability to do it efficiently based on their proven track record of not running anything well.
- I have no desire to have my medical records anywhere near the gov’t in such form as a database, because we all know they have a proven track record of safe guarding that data and not violating my privacy.
- Every other country (including this one) that has tried this, has failed because it’s just so expensive, it’s not feasible. Who in their right mind increases taxes in a depressed economy as a means to take care of people who can’t even afford food?

New SCOTUS Judge?
by CmdrFenix on Jun.10, 2009, under Political Discussion
Well, I can’t say I’m terribly impressed with Sonia Sotomayor as a replacement for Judge Souter. It doesn’t upset the balance of ideology on the court; ideology isn’t something that should matter, but unfortunately it does. I have to ask President Obama, “Is this the best you could find?”. I have been reading up on some of her past rulings as a means of trying to get to know her. Some of her statements to the public directly attack her credibility (IMHO) to be a judge. I know nobody is perfect, but there has to be someone better than this.
I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.
North Korea is miss-understood
by CmdrFenix on Jun.08, 2009, under Political Discussion
Some people have mentioned to me that the “heavy handiness” of the previous administrations could be seen as partly to blame for the current problems with North Korea. I heard such statements as, “Call someone a state sponsor of terrorism, sanction them, and watch them rebel… see what you get!”. Of course, blame everyone except the people causing the problem. We live in a day an age where nothing is anyone’s fault.
Of course, being heavy handed is opposed to giving them milk and cookies to change their ways? What would you suggest we do to get North Korea to abandon their evil ambitions? We all know Kim Jong Il is very understanding and caring of course. Ignore all the facts that this oppressive regime is completely neglectful to their population to further their own selfish goals. Their economy is third world. You need only look at a satellite image to confirm this.

On Air and Alive
by CmdrFenix on Jun.04, 2009, under Political Discussion
Sorry for the delay in my writing… I just bought a new car and my job has been eating me alive. I just traded my 2003 Mercury Sable in for a 2008 Dodge Charger.
Yes… Yes I love it.
In case some of you do not listen to WBZ AM 1030 in New England, I called in on the Steve LeVeille program the other night around 12:12a on my way home from Manchester. Steve was discussing how it was great the gov’t “take over” of GM was and how they should do this for all large companies… Well I had to call in and give him my thoughts on this. I have been searching for the transcript online, but cannot find it. ![]()
