Montana’s line in the sand.

by CmdrFenix on May.11, 2009, under Political Discussion

We all know the federal government fears civilian ownership of firearms, and they should. We’re the last line of defense for freedom should it truly become threatened. NH tried to draw a line in the sand with HCR-6, but that bill was railroaded in executive session by Democrats. HCR-6 was just a reaffirmation of our states rights.

Whereas the Constitution of the State of New Hampshire, Part 1, Article 7 declares that the people of this State have the sole and exclusive right of governing themselves as a free, sovereign, and independent State; and do, and forever hereafter shall, exercise and enjoy every power, jurisdiction, and right, pertaining thereto, which is not, or may not hereafter be, by them expressly delegated to the United States of America in congress assembled;

This bill spawned dozens of others all across the US. Many of which were able to pass and get signed into law, all the while NH, the state that started it, floundered. To say I was disappointed and angry at legislaters when I heard about this is an understatement.

Here comes Montana though out of the blue with something new. They just passed and signed into law that basically states:

The state of Montana has drawn a line in the sand, challenging the federal government to decide whether to follow the U.S. Constitution with a new gun law that exempts from federal regulations any gun, gun accessory or ammunition made in the state and intended for use there.

  • “What this boils down to is:
  • “Guns and ammo made, sold and used in Montana do not require any federal forms.
“Silencers made in Montana and sold in Montana would be fully legal and not registered.
  • “There would be no firearm registration, serial numbers, criminal records check, waiting periods or paperwork required.

If the gun is made and used in Montana, they are saying it falls outside the scope of the ATF. I would definitely call that a line in the sand. The next move is on the current administration. I will see you all in Montana… ;)

The attempts by the federal government to curtail what types of guns we can own (limits on ownership of fully automatic weapons), the ammo we use (serialized ammo and microstamping), and the ranges we use them on (noise requirements, etc…) have only one goal. Confiscation. There is simply no other reason for it. Criminals do NOT obey gun laws. Period. I don’t think I need to point out where this has recently happened and the consequences do I?

Mother told police she feared stalker would kill her. They didn’t come. That night she was murdered.

A mother of three was knifed to death by a stalker just hours after she rang police begging for help…

We need to take a long hard look at the UK and see them as the prime example of what we can never become. The time to fight the Brady Campaign et al is now. Getting our freedom back is a lot harder after we’ve already lost it. Research all this yourself. There is a wealth of information online. Join the fight…

Sorry man, HCR-6 was total trash.

I’m … shocked … that you posted something from glen beck in a not-mocking-him-into-oblivion context, the man clearly has rabies or some other higher-judgment-impacting ailment.

I really dont know where your getting this “confiscation agenda” stuff, but it’s total BS. Nobody … -n o b o d y- … who currently holds elected office in the US federal government has stated firearm confiscation as an objective.

Dear anthill, stop trying to be Mt. Fuji.

Meh, I don’t watch Beck, but the discussion about the AWB was more of the reason for that vid.

It is my feeling that there is a hidden agenda to do this. Of course no politician has ever said they advocate a total ban / confiscation, but this is the same group of politicians who are slowly stripping the right from us all for completely bogus reasons. Look at the DC gun ban? What about Chicago? I will drop the subject when they demonstrate some other intention.

Ant hill? I’m trying to post my concerns about this… If you take it as alarmist? So be it. At least I can say I did something about it.

“slowly stripping the right from us all for completely bogus reasons”

when people said this same thing, like .. word for word .. about the previous president/party going after habeas corpus, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, right to assemble, freedom of the press, etc etc everyone was -way- more dismissive of it and all these people up in arms now “ZOMG THEY’S TRAMPLIN MAH RAIHTS!” were bizzarely silent. Why is that? Where was the worry about hidden agendas?

I do think it’s a bit overly alarmist. Like those few recent shootings I’ve read about where people shot police officers scared that the gub’mint was tramplin’ raihts and trying to take their guns.
