National Security Force (aka Storm Troopers)?

Man, I hate posting ANYTHING from Fox News, but here it is. Now this was something Obama discussed during his campaign and I quote:
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded…
I have to ask you this question, “If this doesn’t scare this living crap out of you, what does?”. Who else do we know in history has tried to raise a “security force” under his control as well funded as the military? I don’t know who I could be talking about about here. Am I a racist now that I’ve drawn these connections? There are too many parallels here to ignore.
Now they have said:
“Its ridiculous to suggest that our bill includes any effort to make service a mandatory requirement. All of the opportunities our bill provides to Americans are voluntary. Americans are proud of their service and volunteering and their interest in it is only growing, especially in the face of this crisis. Our legislation recognizes that more Americans than ever want to serve and give back and provides them with more opportunities to be able to do so,” Miller spokeswoman Rachel Racusen said in an e-mail to FOXNews.com.
… but I hate to point at Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s Chief of Staff favors compulsory service requirements.
How many more connections do I need to draw?

This is silly. I’m sorry man, but your sounding like bachman on this one.
Ignoring the first rule of rational political discussion (“he who mentions hitler or the nazis first loses”) it’s just nuts to compare this to anything sinister.
Personally, I’m in favour of compulsory public service. The devil is in the details with that sort of thing usually, but I’d -love- to see high school grads serve a mandatory year on an ambulance crew, as a fire fighter, in the military, as an office worker at the town clerk’s office, or whatever. Love it.
As for “ZOMG look look evil democrat making waffen SS” lines of thought … I’m not sure how to respond. It’s like saying bush’s wall on the mexican border was analagous to the berlin wall or something, it just doesnt fit. Also, it’s quite clear if you read the remarks in-context that he wasnt talking about anything -new- .. let me say that again for emphesis .. he wasnt talking about establishing any new gub’mint death squads or anything like that .. he was advocating increased funding for the FBI.
Why don’t YOU advocate increased funding for the FBI? I know I do.

To a point, I agree with you, but this one just pointing some interesting comparisons. I’m not saying he’s going to launch the “Concentration camps for white people” (TM), but who knows? Let’s not forget history…
I am in favor of compulsary service in the military, fire dept, police, etc… but not a Civilian Security Force. Who do they answer to? Is it Comrade Obama?
… and yes, I would love to increase funding for ALL law enforcement including the FBI. I would fund that by abolishing the F part of the BATF. Great start IMO.

Again, it’s evidently clear that nobody was advocating anything -new- .. the “civilian security force” he was talking about is quite clearly the FBI and possibly including local non-military police.

That says to me, non-police / non-federal security force. Maybe he miss-spoke… I am pointing this out as something that should be watched.
